Mushfig Orujov was born in Zangilan district of Azerbaijan in 1975. He graduated from the I General Medicine Faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University in 1998.

In 2005, he received his PhD degree from the Azerbaijan Medical University.

He worked as a Senior lecturer at the Department of Histology, Embryology, and Cytology at AMU in 2002-2011, at the Department of Human Anatomy in 2011-2015.

From 2015 to the present, he has been working as an Associate Professor and Deputy Head for Academic Affairs at the Department of Pathological Anatomy of AMU.

From 2008 to 2009, he was an Erasmus Postdoctoral Fellow in Histopathology at the Institute of Pathology, Papageorgiou Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece.

Mushfig Orujov was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar Researcher at the R.Tomsich Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA, in 2008-2009.

In 2016-2017 he has worked as an Academic Advisor at the Faculty of Dentistry of AMU.

In 2017-2019 he has worked as Exchange Program Coordinator at the International Relations Department of AMU.

From September 18, 2019, he was appointed Head of the Department of International Relations.

He speaks Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages.
